1. Welke afvoer past bij jouw sanitair?
De juiste afvoer past bij toestel en beschikbare inbouwruimte. Bij een wastafel zit de uitlaat meestal onder de kom. Een douchevloer vraagt juist om een lage aansluiting. Bad en wastafel gebruiken vaak een zichtbare sifon of een model in een kast.
Kies eerst tussen een vloerafvoer, afvoerplug of sifon met aansluitbuis. De vorm bepaalt waar het water vertrekt. Een verticale uitlaat bespaart soms ruimte onder een douchebak, terwijl een horizontale uitlaat beter past bij een afvoerleiding in de wand. Controleer daarom de positie vóór je gaten boort.
Een afvoer werkt alleen goed met passend waterslot. Dat water sluit rioollucht af. Voor een bredere keuze aan koppelingen en bevestigingen past Onderdelen voor sanitair beter wanneer je ook andere reparaties plant. Is de afvoer zelf het probleem, vergelijk dan vooral aansluitrichting en benodigde hoogte.
2. Maat en aansluiting controleren
De maat moet exact aansluiten op jouw bestaande leiding. Meet de buitendiameter van de aansluiting en de vrije hoogte. Veel huishoudelijke aansluitingen gebruiken 32, 40 of 50 mm. Een paar millimeter verschil geeft geen betrouwbare afdichting.
Kijk ook naar de hartmaat tussen de uitlaat en de wand. Die maat bepaalt of de sifon zonder spanning past. Bij weinig hoogte onder een douchebak kan een lage afvoer nodig zijn, omdat een gewone sifon anders tegen de vloerconstructie komt. Voor goten en douchebakken zijn Doucheonderdelen logischer wanneer je ook rooster, gootlichaam of afwerkset tegelijk vervangt.
Let bij een afvoerplug op de maat van het kraangat. Niet elke plug past. Een klikplug heeft een bedienbaar mechanisme, terwijl een vaste plug alleen de opening afsluit. Controleer de schroefdraad en pakking, want die bepalen samen of de aansluiting waterdicht blijft.
3. Afvoer en waterslot in de praktijk
Een waterslot houdt rioollucht buiten jouw badkamer of keuken. Het blijft gevuld met een kleine hoeveelheid water. Die waterlaag vormt de geurafsluiting. Een sifon met te weinig ruimte is lastig schoon te maken.
Kies een uitneembare beker als je haren of vuil eenvoudig wilt verwijderen. Bij een doucheafvoer is toegang van boven prettig, omdat je het waterslot dan kunt reinigen zonder de vloer open te maken. Een compact model helpt bij beperkte inbouwhoogte, terwijl een diepere sifon vaak meer ruimte biedt voor bezinking van zeepresten en haren en daardoor minder snel verstopt raakt bij dagelijks gebruik. Let daarbij op de opgegeven reinigingsopening.
Kunststof is licht en goed bestand tegen veel huishoudelijke reinigers. Messing is steviger bij zichtwerk. Roestvast staal past vaak bij goten of zichtbare afvoerpluggen, omdat het een strak oppervlak heeft en goed tegen vocht kan. Heb je alleen een los onderdeel nodig, kijk dan bij afvoeronderdelen naar rozetten, buizen en afdichtringen.
4. Onderhoud voorkomt geur en lekkage
Regelmatig reinigen verlengt de bruikbare levensduur van een afvoer. Haren, zeepresten en vet verzamelen zich vooral rond het waterslot. Verwijder zichtbaar vuil voordat het verder de leiding ingaat. Dat voorkomt vaak een verstopping.
Gebruik een mild middel wanneer je de materiaalsoort niet kent. Sterke chemische ontstoppers kunnen pakkingen aantasten, terwijl heet water sommige kunststofdelen kan vervormen. Demonteer een sifon rustig en leg een bak eronder. Zo blijft de kast droog.
Controleer na montage altijd de pakking en de wartelmoer op lekkage. Een scheef aangedraaide verbinding lekt sneller. Wanneer een afvoer ondanks schoonmaken blijft stinken, kan het waterslot droogvallen of kan een aansluiting lucht aanzuigen door een verkeerde montage achter de wand of onder de vloer. Vervang dan versleten ringen in plaats van harder aandraaien.
Begrippenlijst
Waterslot
Een waterslot is een met water gevulde bocht die rioollucht uit de ruimte houdt. De waterlaag werkt als geurafsluiting tussen de afvoer en het riool. Vul een drooggevallen waterslot opnieuw met water wanneer je langere tijd geen kraan of douche gebruikt.
Sifon
Een sifon is het afvoeronderdeel waarin meestal het waterslot zit. Bekersifons kun je vaak van onderen openen voor reiniging. Buisifons nemen soms minder ruimte in, al hangt de beschikbare hoogte af van de gekozen bochten en aansluitrichting.
DN
DN is een nominale maataanduiding voor de diameter van leidingen en aansluitingen. De waarde is geen universele gemeten buitendiameter. Vergelijk daarom altijd de productspecificatie met de buis, schroefdraad of manchet die je al hebt.
Afvoerplug
Een afvoerplug sluit de afvoeropening van een wastafel of bad af. Een klikvariant opent door indrukken, terwijl een vaste plug handmatig wordt geplaatst. Controleer de maat van het kraangat en de draad, zodat de plug met de afvoer kan verbinden.
Inbouwdiepte
De inbouwdiepte is de minimale verticale ruimte die een onderdeel onder het zichtvlak nodig heeft. Bij Doucheonderdelen bepaalt deze maat of de afvoer boven de vloerconstructie past. Meet ook ruimte voor de uitlaatbuis en voor toegang tot het waterslot.
EN 1253
EN 1253 is een Europese normreeks voor afvoerputten en dakafvoeren in gebouwen. Producten met deze aanduiding zijn getest volgens eisen die bij dat type afvoer horen. De norm vervangt geen controle van maat, toepassing of plaatselijke bouwregels.
