1. Welke handboormachine past bij je werk?
Een handboormachine kies je op basis van het soort klus. Voor losse montageklussen volstaat vaak een compacte accuboormachine met instelbaar toerental. Dat boort prettig. Bij langdurig werk in hout of metaal geeft een bedrade uitvoering meestal een gelijkmatiger vermogen, omdat je geen accuwissel plant. Een accuversie biedt meer bewegingsvrijheid op ladders en buiten.
Klopfunctie helpt vooral bij steenachtige ondergronden. Voor zeer harde muren is een gespecialiseerde boor vaak geschikter. Wie vooral nauwkeurig recht wil boren in werkstukken kiest beter uit kolomboormachines, terwijl een handmodel handig blijft wanneer je materiaal niet naar een vaste machine kunt verplaatsen zonder veel tillen. Boren is logischer wanneer je ook andere boortypen wilt vergelijken. Kies daarom eerst je hoofdtaak.
2. Boorkop en formaat
De boorkop bepaalt welke schachten je veilig kunt vastzetten. Een snelspanboorkop draai je met de hand vast. Dat scheelt tijd. Een boorkop met sleutel klemt doorgaans stevig en vraagt een losse sleutel. Controleer de maximale boorkopcapaciteit voordat je dikke boren koopt.
Ook gewicht en balans bepalen hoe lang je comfortabel werkt. Een compacte behuizing geeft meer controle boven je schouder of in krappe hoeken. Voorboren met een kleine diameter verlaagt de belasting van de machine, omdat de boor minder materiaal per omwenteling wegneemt. Voor brede vlakke gaten werkt een gatenfrees vaak beter dan een gewone spiraalboor. Meet eerst de beschikbare ruimte.
3. Toerental, koppel en klopfunctie
Toerental en koppel bepalen hoe de machine zich gedraagt. Een hoog toerental past doorgaans bij kleine boorgaten in hout of metaal. Koppel voel je direct. Een lage stand geeft meer controle bij schroeven, omdat de boorkop minder snel doorslaat. Variabel toerental helpt je bij het aanzetten op gladde oppervlakken.
De klopfunctie voegt korte slagen toe tijdens het draaien. Die functie werkt vooral voor lichte gaten in steen. Gebruik geen klopstand in hout of metaal, want dat vergroot slijtage en geeft een minder net gat. Een goede greep vermindert verdraaien tijdens langdurig werk, terwijl instelbaar koppel voorkomt dat schroefkoppen bij zacht hout beschadigen. Werk daarbij rustig.
4. Veilig werken met handboormachines
Veilig werken begint met een passende boor en stabiele houding. Klem kleine werkstukken aan de werkbank vast voordat je begint. Dat voorkomt meedraaien. Houd de machine met twee handen wanneer de diameter toeneemt, omdat onverwacht vastlopen meer kracht op je polsen zet en de boor bij een harde insluiting kan verdraaien. Draag altijd een goed passende veiligheidsbril bij rondvliegende spanen.
Verwijder de accu of stekker voordat je een boor wisselt. Controleer vooraf ook of de draairichting voor je werk goed staat ingesteld. Een scherpe boor vraagt minder druk en verkleint daardoor de kans op wegglijden in het materiaal. Gebruik de zijhandgreep zodra de machine die functie ondersteunt. Stop direct bij een vastlopende boor.
5. Onderhoud en verschillen tussen merken
Goed onderhoud houdt je handboormachine langer betrouwbaar in gebruik. Blaas stof uit ventilatieopeningen na werk met veel boorstof. Een droge doek volstaat vaak. Bewaar accu's koel en droog, omdat hitte en diepe ontlading de capaciteit kunnen verminderen. Vervang een beschadigde boorkop tijdig om doorslippen tijdens het boren te voorkomen.
Merken verschillen vooral in accuplatform, greep en beschikbare serviceonderdelen. Een Makita handboormachine kan passen als je al passende accu's gebruikt. Vergelijk altijd de garantievoorwaarden en de beschikbaarheid van losse onderdelen, want een repareerbare machine gaat bij intensief gebruik vaak langer mee. Kies geen merk uitsluitend op kleur. Een vertrouwde greep werkt fijner.
Begrippenlijst
Boorkop
Een boorkop is de klem aan de voorkant die een boor of bit vasthoudt. De maximale opname bepaalt welke schachtdikte past. Draai de bekken gelijkmatig vast, zodat de boor niet slipt of scheef loopt.
Snelspanboorkop
Een snelspanboorkop is een boorkop die je zonder aparte sleutel met de hand vastdraait. Dat wisselt snel tussen boren en bits. Controleer na het vastzetten of beide bekken de schacht gelijkmatig en stevig raken.
Koppel
Koppel is de draaikracht waarmee een machine een schroef of boor aandrijft. Een instelbare koppeling helpt kwetsbare schroefkoppen tegen beschadiging te beschermen. Bij een lage stand stopt de aandrijving eerder wanneer de weerstand sterk stijgt.
Toerental
Toerental is het aantal omwentelingen dat de boorkop per minuut maakt. Een hoog toerental past vaak bij kleine gaten in hout of metaal. Een lagere stand geeft meer controle bij schroeven of grotere diameters.
Klopfunctie
Een klopfunctie voegt axiale slagen toe aan de draaiende beweging van de boor. Hierdoor dringt een steenboor makkelijker in licht metselwerk. Gebruik deze stand niet voor hout of metaal, omdat het gat minder netjes wordt.
Accuplatform
Een accuplatform is een reeks machines die dezelfde accu-aansluiting en vaak dezelfde laadapparatuur gebruikt. Controleer spanning en aansluiting voordat je accu's uitwisselt. Bij Makita kan een bestaand platform je keuze voor een machine sterk beïnvloeden.
