Oogschaduw kies je op kleurintensiteit en de gewenste afwerking. Poeder is vertrouwd en laat zich rustig in laagjes opbouwen. Crème geeft vaak sneller een glanzend en intens resultaat. Een matte tint tekent de oogplooi duidelijker af, terwijl satijn en shimmer licht vangen en daardoor kleine kleurverschillen zichtbaarder maken.
Paletten maken combineren overzichtelijk. Losse pans geven gerichter keuzevrijheid. Kies een basiskleur die dicht bij je huidtoon ligt voor rustige overgangen. Donkere kleuren werken het best langs de wimperrand of in de buitenste ooghoek.
Koele ondertonen ogen op veel huidtinten vaak grijzer of roziger. Warme pigmenten neigen juist naar goud, perzik of roodbruine tonen. Swatches helpen, al verandert de kleur door je eigen ondertoon. Een goede match oogt rustiger.
De textuur bepaalt hoe oogschaduw hecht en vervaagt. Geperst poeder is meestal het makkelijkst en schoonst te doseren. Los pigment geeft veel kleur af, waardoor nauwkeurig aanbrengen meer aandacht vraagt. Crèmeformules voelen vaak zachter aan op droge oogleden, terwijl ze bij vette oogleden zonder goede basis sneller in lijntjes kunnen trekken.
Glitterdeeltjes kunnen fallout geven. Dat zie je onder je ogen. Breng zulke texturen daarom deppend aan met een platte kwast. Een oogschaduwprimer egaliseert het ooglid en vermindert vaak ophoping in plooien.
Sterk gepigmenteerde oogschaduw vraagt een lichte hand tijdens het opbouwen. Opbouwen werkt beter. Wie kleuren graag mengt, kiest liever formules met voldoende speeltijd, omdat heel snelle fixatie randen lastiger vervaagbaar maakt en correcties tijdens het aanbrengen op het ooglid onnodig zichtbaar belemmert. Een primer helpt daarbij.
Zachte overgangen maken oogschaduw voor overdag doorgaans beter draagbaar. Gebruik een schone blendingkwast voor de overgangskleur. Een kleinere kwast plaatst donkere tinten precies langs de wimperrand. Werk van licht naar donker, zodat je de vorm geleidelijk kunt opbouwen en niet meteen een te zware vlek hoeft weg te poetsen.
Dep glans voorzichtig op het beweeglijke deel van je ooglid. Vegen verspreidt glitter sneller. Een vochtige kwast kan metallic poeder daarbij intenser laten uitkomen. Trek daarna eventueel een dunne lijn met eyeliner voor meer definitie.
Houd je ogen tijdens het vervagen zoveel mogelijk open. Zo blijft de kleur boven je oogplooi beter zichtbaar. Bij hangende oogleden plaats je de diepste tint iets boven de natuurlijke plooi, omdat die kleur anders verdwijnt wanneer je recht vooruitkijkt in de spiegel en je ogen ontspant. Deze plaatsing werkt beter.
Schone tools houden oogschaduw langer prettig en veilig in gebruik. Sluit poeder en crème direct na ieder gebruik zorgvuldig af. Zo blijven textuur en geur doorgaans beter behouden tijdens gebruik. Bewaar make-up droog en uit direct zonlicht.
Gebruik geen oogschaduw wanneer je last hebt van oogontsteking. De huid rond je ogen kan snel geïrriteerd reageren. Deel oogproducten liever niet wanneer je irritatie of infectie wilt voorkomen. Was kwasten regelmatig met milde zeep, omdat talg en productresten de haren stug maken en kleur minder gelijkmatig kunnen afgeven.
Let bij crèmeformules extra op geur, schifting en uitdroging. Veranderde producten gebruik je niet meer. Past een losse kleurselectie niet bij je routine, dan biedt het bredere aanbod van oogmake-up meer mogelijkheden voor een complete look. Fallout is los oogschaduwpoeder dat tijdens het aanbrengen onder het oog terechtkomt. Het komt vaker voor bij glitter en droge poeders. Dep de kleur op het ooglid en werk losse restjes weg voordat je concealer aanbrengt.
Geperst poeder is oogschaduw waarbij pigment en bindmiddelen tot een vaste pan zijn samengedrukt. De textuur is eenvoudig te doseren met een kwast. Een stevige druk geeft meestal minder losse deeltjes dan zeer droog of los poeder.
Matte finish is een afwerking zonder zichtbare glansdeeltjes. Deze textuur helpt om vorm en diepte aan te brengen. Matte kleuren laten pigmentverschillen eerder zien, waardoor rustig opbouwen en zorgvuldig vervagen vaak mooier uitpakt.
Satijnfinish is een subtiel glanzende afwerking tussen mat en shimmer. Hij reflecteert licht zachter dan grove glitter. Daardoor werkt hij goed voor een helder ooglid zonder een uitgesproken fonkelend effect.
Oogschaduwprimer is een basislaag die het ooglid egaler maakt en de hechting van kleur ondersteunt. Hij kan ophoping in plooien beperken. Wie snel last heeft van vervaging kiest vaak voor oogschaduwprimer onder poeder of crème.
Transition color is een middentint waarmee je de rand tussen lichte en donkere kleuren vervaagt. Deze kleur ligt vaak dicht bij je huidtoon. Gebruik een schone blendingkwast om harde lijnen in de oogplooi zacht te maken.
