Poeders kies je eerst op dekking en gewenste finish. Transparant fixeerpoeder zet vloeibare make-up vast zonder de kleur sterk te veranderen. Getint poeder egaliseert plaatselijk. Dat verschil stuurt je keuze.
Los poeder is vaak fijn gemalen en werkt prettig met een grote kwast. Geperst poeder neem je makkelijker mee, omdat de compacte vorm minder snel morst in je tas. Een matterende finish tempert glans, terwijl een stralende formule licht terugkaatst op uitstekende delen.
Bij een droge huid kan een zeer mat poeder schilfers benadrukken. Een transparante formule is meestal veiliger als je foundationkleur in zomer en winter verschilt. Voor andere bases biedt Gezichtsmake-up meer soorten producten, zodat je een complete routine kunt vergelijken voordat je een poeder kiest.
De juiste poedertint verdwijnt optisch in je eigen huidtoon. Test een getint product bij daglicht op kaak en hals. De kleur moet versmelten. Zo zie je contrast sneller.
Een gele ondertoon oogt warmer, terwijl een roze ondertoon vaak koeler uitvalt. Neutrale tinten zijn minder uitgesproken. Stem poeder af op je basis, want een afwijkende ondertoon maakt het geheel vlekkerig.
Gebruik je een dekkende basis, kies dan meestal een transparant product om kleurstapeling te voorkomen. Bij weinig dekking kan getint poeder juist kleine kleurverschillen verzachten zonder dat het gezicht vlak oogt. Vergelijk daarvoor ook Foundations en concealers, omdat de dekking en ondertoon van je basis bepalen hoeveel extra kleur na het aanbrengen nog zichtbaar blijft op de huid bij verschillende soorten daglicht.
Een goede basis voorkomt dat poeder zich ophoopt. Breng huidverzorging dun aan en laat lagen eerst rustig zetten. Dat helpt direct. Daardoor blijven vette zones zichtbaar rustiger op je gezicht gedurende de dag. De structuur oogt egaler.
Een passende primer geeft poeder een gelijkmatiger vlak. Bij droogte werkt een dunne vochtinbrengende basis vaak prettiger dan een sterk matterende laag. Bekijk Gezichtsprimer als je merkt dat poeder rond poriën of fijne lijntjes ongelijk blijft liggen.
Silica absorbeert olie en geeft een zacht gevoel, terwijl talk vaak voor grip en een gelijkmatige verspreiding zorgt. Minerale pigmenten leveren de kleur. Lees daarom altijd de ingrediëntenlijst voor je koopt.
Breng poeder gericht aan voor een rustige natuurlijke huid. Gebruik een grote losse kwast voor een dunne waas. Druk daarna licht. Zo voorkom je strepen op de wangen.
Een poederdons pakt meer product op en geeft daarom lokaal meer fixatie. Dep bij neusvleugels of kin. Veeg niet hard, want wrijving kan foundation plaatselijk verschuiven op die plekken. Dat oogt rustiger.
Werk met weinig product als je de T-zone fixeert, omdat een dikke laag textuur sneller accentueert. Onder de ogen vraagt poeder extra terughoudendheid. Bij flitslicht kan silica een lichte waas geven, vooral wanneer je veel product aanbrengt en de kleurloze deeltjes het licht sterk terugkaatsen op foto's van dichtbij op feestjes thuis.
Schone tools houden je poeder langer prettig in gebruik. Was je kwasten regelmatig met lauw water en milde zeep. Laat ze liggend drogen. Zo blijft de vorm na elke wasbeurt behouden.
Een poederdons neemt huidvet op en verdient vaker een wasbeurt dan een droge poederkwast. Vervang een beschadigde verpakking snel, omdat los product anders kan ontsnappen. Barsten maken meenemen lastiger.
Sluit losse potjes goed af, omdat vocht klontjes kan veroorzaken en de textuur verandert. Bewaar poeder uit direct zonlicht. Je kunt formules van MAC vergelijken wanneer je een professionele afwerking zoekt, omdat finish en persvorm merkbaar verschillen.
Transparant fixeerpoeder is kleurloos poeder dat vloeibare of crèmeachtige lagen minder laat verschuiven. Het geeft meestal weinig dekking en helpt glans te temperen zonder de ondertoon van de basis zichtbaar te wijzigen.
Geperst poeder is een vaste poedervorm die onder druk in een pan is samengebracht. Het is handig voor onderweg en laat zich meestal gericht aanbrengen met een kwast, sponsje of poederdons.
Silica is een mineraal poederbestanddeel dat olie absorbeert en een glad huidgevoel kan geven. Een hoog aandeel kan droge plekken zichtbaarder maken en bij flitslicht soms een lichte waas veroorzaken.
Talk is een zacht mineraal dat producten grip en een gelijkmatige verspreiding kan geven. Het wordt in formules gebruikt voor een soepel gevoel, terwijl andere bestanddelen de dekking en glans bepalen.
Onder toon is de warme, koele of neutrale kleurnuance onder je zichtbare huidkleur. Die nuance helpt bij het kiezen van getint poeder, omdat een verkeerde ondertoon grauw of juist opvallend kan ogen.
Flashback is een lichte waas op foto’s door poederdeeltjes die flitslicht sterk terugkaatsen. Vooral kleurloze formules met veel silica kunnen dit effect geven wanneer je te veel product aanbrengt.
