1. Wenkbrauwpotloden kiezen op vorm en dekking
Kies wenkbrauwpotloden op puntvorm dekking en gewenste afwerking. Een dunne punt tekent haartjes preciezer. Een bredere stift vult schaarse zones sneller op. De keuze bepaalt of je vooral vorm corrigeert of bestaande wenkbrauwhaartjes optisch verdicht.
Draai- of automatische potloden hebben meestal een smalle punt die je niet slijpt. Ze werken snel bij een vaste routine. Houten potloden kun je opnieuw scherp slijpen wanneer je een strakke staart wilt tekenen. Een te zachte kern breekt echter eerder bij druk of warmte.
Kies een microtip als afzonderlijke haartjes het doel zijn. Een driehoekige punt geeft tegelijk een fijne rand en een vlakke zijde voor opvulling. Past een potlood niet bij je gewenste look, dan biedt het bredere aanbod van Oogmake-up meer mogelijkheden voor je oogzone. Test de punt eerst op je hand.
2. De juiste kleur en ondertoon
De juiste tint volgt vooral je haarkleur en ondertoon. Kijk eerst naar de lichtste haren. Daarmee voorkom je een harde omlijning. Een tint die ongeveer één stap lichter is dan donker hoofdhaar oogt vaak rustiger.
Koele bruintinten bevatten vaak grijze pigmenten en passen meestal beter bij asblond of koelbruin haar. Warme bruinen hebben meer rood of goud. Die kunnen goed werken bij koperkleurig haar, zolang de wenkbrauwen niet oranje afsteken. Zwart geeft snel een grafisch effect.
Let ook op de dekking van het pigment. Een transparantere formule laat huid en eigen haren doorschemeren, waardoor kleine kleurverschillen minder zichtbaar blijven. Vol pigment bedekt kale plekjes sneller, bij lichte druk en zorgvuldig uitborstelen blijft het resultaat toch geloofwaardig en minder zwaar. Daglicht toont de ondertoon het eerlijkst.
3. Puntvorm, spoolie en formule
De formule bepaalt hoe precies en lang je tekent. Een waxbasis geeft doorgaans meer grip. Droge huid verdraagt vaak romigere texturen beter. Bij een vette huid blijft een stevigere formule meestal langer scherp, omdat huidvet zachte pigmenten sneller kan verplaatsen.
Waterbestendige formules hechten beter na droging. Ze vragen wel een geschikte reiniger. Gebruik weinig product, want meerdere lagen kunnen op huid zonder haren sneller samenklonteren. Een spoolie verdeelt pigment door de haren en verzacht scherpe beginlijnen zonder dat je extra kleur toevoegt.
Controleer ook of het potlood een borsteltje heeft. Een losse borstel werkt eveneens als je hem schoon houdt tegen vet en huidresten. Vergelijk ook de beschikbare varianten van Anastasia Beverly Hills. Een vaste punt bespaart tijd.
4. Zo breng je het natuurlijk aan
Natuurlijk aanbrengen lukt met korte lijnen en weinig druk. Begin bij het midden van je wenkbrauw. Teken daar in de haargroeirichting. Werk naar de staart toe, omdat dat deel meestal meer definitie verdraagt dan de zachtere voorkant.
Vul lege plekjes met losse haartjes in plaats van één doorlopende lijn. Borstel daarna omhoog en schuin naar buiten. Zo meng je pigment met eigen haren, waardoor de overgang tussen ingevulde huid en volle zones minder opvalt. Stop zodra de vorm in balans is.
Gebruik oogschaduw als je een zachtere waas wilt. Een matte poedertextuur kan een potloodlaag verzachten, terwijl glanzende pigmenten rond de wenkbrauw meestal afleiden en de aandacht naar oneffenheden of losse haren op de huid kunnen trekken. Een oogschaduwprimer is daar alleen zinvol bij een erg vette huid. Een schoon borsteltje houdt het subtiel.
5. Slijpen, hygiëne en houdbaarheid
Goed onderhoud houdt de punt schoon en bruikbaar. Sluit de dop meteen na gebruik. Zo droogt een automatische kern minder snel uit. Bescherm houten potloden tegen warme plekken, omdat een zachte kern sneller breekt tijdens het slijpen.
Slijp een houten potlood met een schoon slijpertje. Een bot mesje splijt de kern. Verwijder losse houtresten voordat je weer tekent, zodat die niet langs de huid schuren. De punt hoeft niet extreem scherp te zijn.
De houdbaarheid na opening staat vaak met een potjessymbool op de verpakking, terwijl warmte en lucht de formule kunnen uitdrogen of de punt minder prettig laten aanvoelen tijdens het tekenen. Vervang het product eerder bij afwijkende geur, uitdroging of zichtbare verandering van textuur. Deel een wenkbrauwpotlood niet met anderen, want huidcontact laat resten op de punt achter. Reinig een spoolie regelmatig met milde zeep.

Microtip
Een microtip is een zeer smalle stiftpunt voor fijne, haarachtige lijntjes. De punt vraagt lichte druk en slijt sneller af bij grote vlakken. Daardoor past hij vooral bij het verfijnen van de aanzet en kleine kale plekjes.
Onder toon
Onder toon is de koele, warme of neutrale kleurzweem onder een zichtbare bruintint. Een koele ondertoon bevat vaak grijs pigment, terwijl een warme variant meer rood of goud laat zien. Zo kies je een tint die beter aansluit bij haar en huid.
Waxbasis
Een waxbasis is een formule met wassen die pigment beter aan huid en haren laat hechten. Die basis geeft vaak meer grip en een iets steviger gevoel tijdens het tekenen. Bij veel lagen kan de textuur sneller zichtbaar worden op kale huid.
Waterbestendige formule
Een waterbestendige formule is een pigmentformule die na droging beter bestand is tegen vocht en huidvet. De kleur blijft daardoor vaak langer op zijn plaats. Voor het verwijderen heb je meestal een reiniger nodig die make-up oplost.
Spoolie
Een spoolie is een klein spiraalborsteltje voor het uitborstelen en verdelen van pigment. Het borsteltje verzacht scherpe lijnen en mengt kleur met aanwezige haren. Reinig het regelmatig om huidvet en productresten te verwijderen.
Potjessymbool
Een potjessymbool is een verpakkingsmarkering die de aanbevolen gebruiksduur na opening aangeeft. Het getal in het symbool staat voor maanden. Bewaar het product gesloten en vervang het eerder bij een afwijkende geur of textuur.
