Vergelijk ook het materiaalgevoel. Sommige modellen ogen hetzelfde, maar verschillen in soepelheid en hoe het bovenwerk zich naar je voet vormt. Dat merk je vooral bij korte ritten en langere wandelingen.
Kijk daarnaast naar de manier waarop de zool het contact met de grond regelt. Je vergelijkt dan demping en veerkracht, en je ziet sneller of je liever een platter loopvlak neemt of juist meer vering wil. Binnen het aanbod kun je daarom gericht vergelijken op pasvorm en zool naast elkaar.
